About the role...
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a portfolio of Australian clients, understanding their business needs and providing tailored accounting solutions.
- Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
- Prepare and lodge Australian income tax returns for various entities (e.g., individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
- Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and other financial data.
- Prepare financial statements and reports.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in Australian tax laws and accounting standards.
- Contribute to process improvements and efficiency within the accounting function.
- Utilize cloud-based accounting software such as Xero and potentially MYOB.
About you..
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
Experience:
At least one year working for an Australian Accounting/Tax company
Skills:
- Proficient with Xero
- Experience with MYOB
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Strong understanding of Australian taxation principles and experience in preparing Tax Returns, BAS, and IAS for the ATO
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Organised and able to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently
