About the role...

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a portfolio of Australian clients, understanding their business needs and providing tailored accounting solutions.
  • Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
  • Prepare and lodge Australian income tax returns for various entities (e.g., individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and other financial data.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in Australian tax laws and accounting standards.
  • Contribute to process improvements and efficiency within the accounting function.
  • Utilize cloud-based accounting software such as Xero and potentially MYOB.

    About you..

    Qualifications:

    A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

    Experience:

    At least one year working for an Australian Accounting/Tax company

    Skills:
  • Proficient with Xero
  • Experience with MYOB
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Strong understanding of Australian taxation principles and experience in preparing Tax Returns, BAS, and IAS for the ATO
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently
